    We recommend Firefox 3, although the site supports a lot of browsers and will work fine in Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2+, Opera 9.5+, or Safari 2+, and Chrome.

Your items list

  1. How do I add an item to my list?

    Browse or search an item and click "Add to my list" button on a list of items. When you click "Add to my list", the button text will change to "Remove from list".
    You can also add items by clicking the "Add to my list" button in the specific item page. The item now may be editable by yourself.

  2. What happens if I don’t find an item?

    Likexo allows you to add any item you want. You only need to click "Create Item" button, and just follow the wizard. Remember that is not recommendable to create duplicate items. (see: Points and Categories)

  3. How do I remove an item from my list?

    To remove an item from your list, click "Remove from my list" button. This button appears in the list of items and in the specific page of an item when you have it.

Item modifications

  1. How can I modify an item?

    To modify an item, first of all, you need to have that item on your list. Next, in the item page you will have an edit link in each item field, where a lightbox window will appear if you click it. This window will give you the explanation you need to add/remove/edit a field.
    In the case you are the only user that has that item, the modification will be immediately applied; otherwise the modification will be a pending one; all users of that item will vote for the modification you want to make. Remember that It’s not recommendable to modify an item if you are not sure of it. (see:
    Points and Categories)

  2. What is a pending modification?

    It’s a modification over an item that more than one user have on their lists. This type of modification needs to have more positive than negatives votes to be approved and then applied. A pending modification that not cumulates positives votes to by approved is discarded.
    The users have a time to make their vote. Past this period, the pending modification is closed, and the vote counting is made. Meanwhile, if the pending modification negative or positive vote count is unreachable be the other count, this modification is close immediately.

  3. How do I vote a pending modification?

    In the item page all pending modification are listed; you only have to decide for a positive or a negative vote. Remember that your decision is important for the modification appliance, so be careful about what you decide.

  4. How do I realize that a pending modification exists on an item?

    When a pending modification is made over an item, at the end of the day an email will be sent to you with all the modifications made on your items. Also when you go to an item page, you can see the pending modifications of that item listed ready to be voted :-)
    When a modification is closed, an email also will be sent to you to inform the result of the voting.

  5. Why modify an item is so wired?

    This is a beta application and we are getting fun with different proof of concepts over graphic interface and usability.
    In the future this could change… or maybe not. :-)

Item recommendations

  1. How can I get Likexo recommendations?

    Get Likexo recommendations is really easy. Likexo builds contextual recommendations, and you just don’t need to do nothing to get them. :-)
    If you visit an item, an user’s profile or your own profile, you should see a box with items that Likexo will recommend to you.

  2. The recommendations change every time, what’s happening?

    Likexo recommendations change every time when you and other users improve profiles and items list. If you often use Likexo, probably Likexo will get more knowledge of you, and may build better recommendations.
    Also, we are permanently fixing and improving recommendation algorithms, so recommendations change is really a good thing! (It’s evolution baby!)

  3. How can I improve my recommendations?

    For get better recommendations, you should add all the items you really like, rank them, comment them, tag them, and modify them (for better item information).
    Tip: It’s important to rank also the items that you don’t like. If Likexo knows the items that you don’t like, it will know you better and gets better recommendations for you.

Your Account

  1. How do I change my photo?

    Click profile link in the left menu of Likexo, and then click "Edit Profile" button. In the Edit Profile tab, click "change picture" button and upload a new photo.

  2. Where are my public messages (or scrapbook messages)?

    Click profile link in the left menu of Likexo. In this page you will see your profile (like others can see it), where your scrapbook is.

  3. How do I delete a scrapbook message that someone left for me?

    Click "delete" button below any message to remove it from your scrapbook.

  4. What happens to my private messages?

    When someone sends to you a private message, an email is sends to you with it. You can also see all your private messages by clicking the "messages" link in the left menu of Likexo.

  5. How do I change my email address?

    Click profile link in the left menu of Likexo, and then click "Edit Profile" button. In the Edit Profile tab, you could be able yo change all your personal details, including your email.
    A confirmation email will be sent to your new email address. Clicking the link in that email will activate your new address and take you to your settings page.

  6. How do I change my email notifications?

    Click profile link in the left menu of Likexo, and then click "Account" button. In this tab you can activate and deactivate the notifications you want to receive.

  7. I can't create an account with my email address, what’s the problem?

    Maybe your email address has been used before for a Likexo account. If you had created a Likexo account in the past with this email we can reactivate it, but you cannot use the email again for a new account.

Items

  1. Item information is wrong, how do I change it?

    Go to the item page, and if you have on your list of items, you can modify the field that is wrong (see: Item modifications)

  2. How do I rate an item?

    Go to the item page and put your mouse over the vote bar and click in the ranking that you want to add. You can make your vote over the following scale:

    • Horrible
    • Bad
    • Ok
    • Great
    • Excellent

  3. How do I comment an item?

    Go to the item page and click on the "write a comment" link in the Comments Box. A lightbox window will appear where you will be able to write your comment.

  4. A comment is offensive, what can I do?

    You can report an offensive comment just clicking on the Report button in the comment. A lightbox window will appear where you will be able to write a comment.

  5. An item is duplicated, what can I do?

    Go to the item page, and click on the "Report" button. A lightbox window will appear where you will be able to write your complaint.

  6. An item is inappropriate, what can I do?

    Do the same as a duplicated item.

  7. How do I recommend an item to a person?

    Go to the item page and click on the "Recommend item" button. A lightbox window will appear where you will be able to send a recommendation to a likexo user.

  8. Can I use tags over my items?

    Of course!! In the left bar you have the Tag Cloud. If you have the item on your list of items, you will see a button on the Tag Cloud to add/edit/remove them.
    In a future version of Likexo you will be able to make Bulk Tag Edit :-)

  9. How do I know how many items I have?

    On the left bar you have an item counter (there you can also see how many friends you have).

Points and Categories

  1. What are points and categories in Likexo?

    Points and categories are the way that users are valorized in Likexo. Your actions become into points (negatives or positives); this gives you a status in Likexo. Depending on your sum of points, there are many possible categories that you can belong to.
    You can only have one category at time.

  2. How can I add points to my sum?

    You can add points by the following actions:

    • Using Likexo
    • Creating/Editing items
    • Completing your profile
    • Making comments to the items
    • Reporting inappropriate comments
    • Reporting a duplicate or inappropriate item
    • Adding friends to your list of friends

    Remember that if you make this actions in a bad way (actions that do not benefit the community), you will lose points rather than win.

  3. What should I do to increase category?

    Well, The more points you make, the more potential for increasing category will have!

  4. What are the possible categories in Likexo?

    The categories in Likexo are:

    • Newbie user
    • Normal user
    • Advanced User
    • Likexo user
    • Great Likexo user
    • Likexo Administrator user


    The first category is "Newbie User". The greatest aspiration for a user in Likexo is to become a Great Likexo user.
    The "Likexo Administrator users" are the people in charge of "take care" of Likexo.

  5. Hey, my category suddenly changes to "Under Watch User" .. what’s happening?

    Mmmhh... This means that you made some bad actions in shorts period of time. Be careful, when you are in this state Likexo Administrators will review your actions and tell you what you're doing wrong. In this state you lose some of your privileges in the community.

  6. Hey, my category suddenly changes to "Problematic User" .. what’s happening?

    Yeap... You have been a bad boy. If you are mark as problematic you lose more privileges than the "Under Watch" state. Also a Likexo Administrator can ban your account. Take care about this.

  7. Is it possible to decrease categories?

    Yes, you can earn points, but also you can lose points (taking actions against community thoughts; loss of points can cause decrease category.

Friends/Members

  1. How do I find my friends in Likexo?

    You can find a friend just using the Likexo search. You have to select "on users" in the search type select box. In the result list, you can add a friend by clicking "Add as a friend" button.

  2. How do I accept a friend request?

    When someone sends to you a friend request, an email will be send to you with a link to the friend request. Or you can go to "messages" in the left bar menu. Then you will see the invitation, where you can decide to accept or decline the invitation.
    In the case you decline the invitation, the user who sent the friend request will not be advised of this.

  3. How do I know if a member and I have items in common?

    Go to the user page, and then click on the "Common Items" button. This will list the items in commons between you and to other user.

  4. How do I know if a member and I have friends in common?

    Go to the user page, and then click on the "Common Friends" button. This will list the friends in commons between you and the other user.

  5. How do I send a message to a friend?

    You can go to the user page, and then click on the "Contact" button. Or go to "messages" in the left bar menu. There you can click on "Write message".

  6. How do I delete a friend?

    Go to the user page and click on the "Remove from my list" button. The user you delete will not be advised of this. But, also, you will not be in his friends list anymore.
